Goldburd McCone LLP is excited to announce the expansion of our practice into the employee benefits, retirement, and executive compensation space with the addition of Avi Bernstein as Senior Counsel.
Avi brings over 25 years of experience helping clients design and administer a wide range of benefit and compensation programs, including:
- Incentive and equity compensation plans
- Qualified and nonqualified retirement plans
- Non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements
- Medical, disability, life insurance, and severance plans
- Cafeteria plans, health reimbursement accounts (HRAs), and flexible spending accounts (FSAs)
Clients regularly seek Avi’s counsel for executive compensation structuring, IRS Section 409A compliance, and correction of qualification and fiduciary issues through IRS and Department of Labor programs. He also guides clients through the employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including risk assessments, benefits mapping, and post-merger integration.
With Avi joining the firm, Goldburd McCone is proud to now offer clients expanded services in the ERISA and retirement planning arena, including:

Avi’s career includes nearly a decade as in-house benefits counsel at a global insurance provider, earlier practice at a major international law firm, and HR consulting at a Big 4 accounting firm. His deep experience ensures clients receive practical, tax-focused guidance that minimizes risk and maximizes value.
